A letter to my daughter

My sweet, strong, sassy Sterling…. I love you.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 11 months with you earth-side. This past (almost) year has been the greatest of my life. Becoming your mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I hope you always know that!!! Sterling Rose, you light up my world and fill my heart with love. Where there once was darkness, happy rays of joy now fill those spots. The days may be long, and the emotions are strong, but I wouldn’t change this life for anything!

I see so much of myself in you, especially your stubbornness. You are so determined to be independent and explore, I know you’ll love to travel when you’re older. It’s amazing watching you grow, and being with you every step, Sterling. You get this serious look on your face when the wheels in your head are turning, trying to figure everything out. You get easily frustrated when something doesn’t happen quickly, and go from sweet to sour. (I wonder where you get that from…oops) You are fascinated by your daddies guitar, and love anything musical. You’re our little superstar.

I never knew I could love someone as much as I love you. Writing this makes me cry because I can’t imagine life without you. Everything that led me to being your mom I am now so grateful for. All of the bad times, hard times, scary times, they were worth it. Why? Because the end of chapter one of my life starts with YOU, and the best is yet to come.
I lived 24 long years to feel whole, and the minute I held you in my arms, I knew being your mom was my purpose.

I want to thank you for choosing me to be your mommy, you are my greatest blessing.
