A few months ago I came across a discussion online asking “how much would you spend on your child’s birthday party?” This topic caught my eye because my daughter Sterling will be one in November. I was curious to see what budget others thought was “reasonable” and wanted to compare numbers. I genuinely thought my number was on the higher side, but then my jaw dropped. I saw crazy big numbers, $500, $1,000, $3,500 DOLLARS on a first birthday party. Wow. These numbers made my “$200 tops” (which I still think is high) number in my head seem small. Even more shocking was that some people thought they HAD to spend that much money for a nice party. Here’s where I come in… anyone who knows me knows that I love a good deal. I love the feeling of saving money, and being frugal as weird as that sounds. Now I’m far from a penny pincher, but why pay full price when you can get a discount!? Ammirite đ With that being said, while I love a good deal I’m not crafty AT ALL. I totally wish I was though. If I did make my own decorations, (like you can if you’re a crafty person) it would be even cheaper than this list I came up with. I came up with a mock “purple & gold” party fit for twenty people. Click the links below, to buy directly.
Birthday Banner & Cake Topper  $9.99
Birthday Girl Tutu Outfit $5.59
Birthday Girl Headband $4.96
Purple & White Straws  $2.99
Party Pack –  plates, cups, utensils etc $14.99
Purple, Gold, & White Balloons 50 ct. $11.99
Total cost for decorations + outfit : $50.51
As far as food, cake, and possible goodie bags…these are all dependent on how much total you want to spend! You can easily get snacks, drinks, etc for $50 at your local grocery store or even dollar store. I would say realistically, a total of $100 for a birthday party with twenty people is a great, DO-ABLE budget!!!
Extra tip: You can make some cute DIY decorations from Pinterest, (that are easy!!!!) like this giant number 1 made out of pictures – view here (and follow me on Pinterest if you’re on there! đ )
