The safer car seat coat: Buckle Me Baby Coats

I recently stumbled across Buckle Me Baby Coat’s Instagram account, and immediately knew it was something I needed to get and try for my daughter! Buckle Me Baby Coats are a safer option than puffy winter coats, while your child is in their car seat! Car seat safety is SO important, and having your child wear a normal winter coat in the car seat is NOT safe. (Source) Puffy winter jackets put too much room in between your child and the harness, almost 4 inches of extra room! These 4 inches can be LIFE or DEATH in an accident!!! Please, if you’re still using puffy coats on your kids in the car seat, stop. This leads us to the car seat coat struggle every mom faces during winter.

So, what CAN you use to keep your kid warm AND safe!? Fleece jackets are okay (not very warm) or just wearing a hat and gloves in the car, with a blanket. There options are doable, but what about getting in and out of the car? Or if you have a kid like I do, she won’t leave her gloves and hat on for longer than 2 minutes. Also, it’s reaaaaaally annoying when you have to get your toddler’s coat on and off (once you’ve gotten them out of the car seat) in 15-degree weather, with them screaming and crying. With that being said, as a mom, anything that is safe for your child AND makes life easier is a WIN in my book!! Insert Buckle Me Baby Coat: you put the coat on INSIDE of the house, and unbutton INSIDE of the car seat, and your child is able to leave it ON! It’s genius! The front panel unsnaps so that you can buckle the harness directly on your child! Say whaaaaat???!

Overall, we really like Buckle Me Baby Coat, and think it’s a great option for my daughter staying warm, and safe in the car! I love that the coat is meant for everyday use, in OR out of the car.
